This Babylon in Revelation 17:18 is identified by the angel as a “great city”and nota person. – And please note that this “great city” is‘in existence’ and “reigning over kings of the earth” during thetime of Apostle John’s writing of the Book of Revelation (Apocalypse).
This “great city” in Revelation 17:18 positively CAN NOT be the Ancient Babylon in Iraq because that Babylon was destroyed in 539 B.C. by the Medes-Persians, and it was NOT“reigning over kings of the earth” when Apostle John wrote the Book of Revelation (Apocalypse).
This verse of Holy Scripture PROVES without a doubt that the “Great Harlot” being referred to in Revelation 17 is a “GREAT CITY”,and not a PERSON. -- This "GREAT CITY" in Revelation 17 can be none other than only one entity on the earth..."VATICAN CITY, ROME"!
The angel’s explanation of “the mystery” of the “Great Harlot” to Apostle John ends here in this verse 18.
